[It's late when Hange comes back from her latest enclosure jaunt. An unattended, mysterious present is perhaps a little ominous on the barge, but Hange is simply too curious not to inspect it, and of course when she opens it she has an inkling of who sent this device.

This beautifully crafted device. This device that's friendly to her lifestyle, lightweight, portable, with two charging methods. A camera! A keyboard! The symbol of the scouts. It's a thoughtful thing and lovely in its thoughtfulness and personalization. Exactly what she might have expected from Warren, actually, from what she's seen of him personally, and what he's asked of Iris.

She reads. She wakes Helios up. She shuffles through the functions, just a preliminary look. Then she messages Warren.]

Warren he is so BEAUTIFUL!! The scouts emblem!!! Im not surprised youd be so thoughtful but its lovelier than I ever could imagine. I am so excited to take him places! So excited for a breach where I can use him!! Where are you?????

[ Warren was actually asleep but it's not like he's going to admit that. He doesn't sleep! He's always aware! Really!]

Don't suppose you've ever been in zero gravity before, have you?

[indeed, it’s only a few minutes before Hange is rapping on his door, dressed practically in sweatpants and a button-up shirt. Warren only has to open the door before she’s laughing and extending her arms, palms facing each other. She ambles towards him, arms out, it’s pretty clearly telegraphed? It’s a hug, hug incoming, hug incoming, INCOMING HUG, HUG INCOMING —]

[ He will step outside with a laugh so that he can get his hug without the potential awkwardness of zero gravity causing issues.]

Okay, I'm assuming you liked it.

[Hange steps in, hugs him. It's a hug executed with all the aplomb and grace of a space shuttle docking with the mothership, which is to say it's pretty mechanical. Hange is an awkward hugger, but she tried.]

I love it! It's a beautiful piece. I haven't run it through all paces yet, but if it works as nicely as it's made... it's perfect!

[ Kepler on the other hand is VERY good at them, and he goes for an encompassing-but-not-tight bear hug type with a quick squeeze to end it relatively organically. He helps!]

I didn't have many voice samples so I admit, his voice is based on mine. Forgive me?

[What a nice hug. She releases him and moves back and away as a prelude to coming in.]

Okay! Zero gravity, this will be very interesting. I’ll have to show you the tactical gear sometime. Can I come in?

[ He nods before stepping back, pushing off as he does to send him floating towards one of the hand holds near the ceiling.]

Tactical gear?

Ohhh!

[forgive her distraction. she comes in... wow! Floating! Right away floating! She involuntarily rolls in a sort of somersault. She speaks to Warren upside down with her back facing him, arms straight out, legs out, relaxed.]

Errr... well! It's a means humans have... of maneuvering in three dimensions!

[She kicks her legs a little, then giggles when that does nothing. She's extremely vulnerable right now, but it's fine.]

I see the reason for the comparison.

[ He moves aside, leaving a spot for her to grab for a handhold when she feels like swimming towards one. He doesn't seem bothered by the upside down.]

I'm assuming it's... less about gravity. More about... propulsion?

[ It's a guess.]

Yes! We fire out grappling hooks, which are attached to wires - we wear the spools. Two grappling hooks, two spools. Pressure differential in your gas tank causes the wires to pull back in automatically, reeling you after them.

[Hange is revolving in space slowly, turning to face him now, right side up. She seems to be having a good time flailing around in a silly fashion, though in a moment she experimentally cups her hands around her mouth and blows. That seems to slow her rotation.]

[ It's obvious from the look on his face that he's trying to work out how that might work, whether that's something that would be feasible in his own world, or if there'd be better alternatives to produce the same effect. He decides almost immediately that he'd need to experience it before he could judge.]

I'd love to see it.

What's the purpose of the device? If you don't mind me asking?

Specifically, it’s used as a weapon. More generally, it could be used as a tool to help cross difficult terrain and scale vertical surfaces. I’ll be happy to show you sometime.

[She’s no longer rotating. Hange allows herself to drift, deliberately trying to relax, and looking around.]

This is fun! You could really create an obstacle course in here. What happens if you let some water out?

It's a mess to find all the droplets.

[ He reaches over to pull up a couple of the little liquid packs that he'd used back on the Urania when he couldn't just turn on the gravity here.]

Gotta put everything into one of these so you can drink it in here or it'll be a goddamn mess. Just a part of space travel, though.

Haha! I want to see. Maybe not in your rooms, though. [It should be possible to find a place like this on the enclosure.] It sounds like fun to play with. Do you remember when time stopped and started here? That was early after I arrived. I played with the water in the pool and it was thick and could be sculpted like clay.

None of that really hit me much.

[ He read the messages on the network about it, but it seemed to largely leave him unaffected. A part of him wonders why that was, but he doesn't want to take too much from that. It seems he wasn't the only one.]

But that sounds kind of interesting. An experience, to be sure.

We could always open up some water in here. Or the Enclosure.

I wouldn't want to muss up your living space. We should play with it in the enclosure sometime!

Is it always this way? Seems like it would be inconvenient to go to bed... you'd float away...

[ But his voice says that he finds the whole thing mildly hilarious.]

And if you're talking about the Urania, there wasn't much to be done about it. No artificial gravity like the Sol.

But Taura got me a gravity switch. Makes it fun... and convenient!

I had no idea that such things could even exist!

[She's close enough now to reach out and grab for him.]

I'm jealous. I wish my world had such technologies to boast. It's become clearer and clearer to me that we're far behind.
