[there's a painting in progress on the wall, some kind of landscape mid-portrayal, and Hange wiping her hands off with a rag. She looks him over and nods towards the sitting area.]

Mm. I'm going to check in with Tiffany in a bit.

[he tilts his head at the painting, but stops when it makes his new eye water. Instead he walks in and settles down in his usual spot]

If you do, don't mention my name? I'm so fucking embarrassed.

...That looks nice.

I don't think I can do it without mentioning your name. But don't worry, I won't drag it out.

[She drops off the rag, circles around into a chair, stopping by to ruffle his hair before she sits.]

[he gives a sad grin at the hair ruffle, snuggling back with his arms ticked in the sweatshirt, pulling his knees against his chest on the chair]

You're not a half bad artist, Hange. I'd let you do my scenery any time.

I took it up! When I got here. Sitting down to paint something makes you look more closely.

[And her aide used to it. Ah, Moblit.]

I'm sorry you're feeling so sad, buddy.

[He peers at the painting more closely, trying to determine where it could be]

Aw, you. Thanks. I just really feel like crap but less so than I did before. You and Loki, god. You're both amazing.

[Hange nods and then sits back in her armchair, eye briefly slipping closed. Big expenditures of emotion feel so... exhausting, at the moment. She gets where Bill's coming from on that.]

I recommend you taking something like that up.

DT and me are really into costuming. And I love singing, dancing, performing, all that shit.

Maybe we could be a duo. Take the show on the road.

Are those things that help you calm your emotions?

Just draws a total blank. What does she want to talk about? Anything?]

I - uh - you know... I wish we had, uh, a stable on this ship, and grounds. The Admiral can do the enclosure, I'm sure he could do that.

Ah, yeah? For horses and shit?

Nice. Nice. Horses are...actually I don't think I've ever seen a horse before. Just on TV and shit.

We worked with them a lot. The scouts, I mean. Our horses are as brave as tigers. Clever. Loyal. When a scout leaves horseback to fight, a well-trained scout horse knows to stick close to their rider and come when called.

You ever eat them when times get tough?

A scout horse cost more money than most civilians ever see in their lives.

So usually only if they keeled over on their own.

[He nods a little]

That makes sense.

Shit. I need to figure out money.

I thought Stan was teaching you! Did he not go over money with you?

[Stanford and Stanley left. :/ It was probably an incomplete education.]

Alternately, you go someplace where they're still on the barter system.

He DID, we just didn't...really get a chance to have more than a few lessons.

I wanna go somewhere that's nice. Somewhere where the people are amazing and friendly and looking to help a guy out.

Well, good luck with that. [It's tough in general to find a world so milk-and-honey sweet, as far as Hange's concerned.] Any ideas what to do when you get there?

Make a lot of friends and basically fuck shit up.

[She flattens out just about immediately.]

I sincerely hope you're joking right now. If you want a good world, prepare yourself to help build one. Otherwise, don't mess up what other people worked hard to build.
